Accessibility

Most people reading this site are either worried about someone, or finding things at home harder than they were, or both. So it is built to be easy on the eyes and easy to use.

Last updated August 2026.

What we have done

  • Body text is set at 20px or larger on desktop and never below 19px on any screen, with generous line spacing.
  • Text and background colours are chosen to meet WCAG 2.1 AA contrast.
  • Buttons and links use real words, and every tap target is at least 48px tall.
  • The whole site works with a keyboard, and focus is always visible.
  • Movement is kept to a minimum, and it stops entirely if your device is set to reduce motion.
  • Photographs have text descriptions for screen reader users.
  • Text can be enlarged in your browser without the layout breaking.

Where we know we fall short

[To be completed after testing. Any known issues will be listed here honestly, with what we are doing about them and by when.]

You never have to use the website

Everything on this site can be done without the website. Send us a message and a person will do it with you. We can also send information by post in large print if that is easier.

Tell us if something is hard to use

If a page is difficult to read, or a button does not work with your screen reader, tell us or email hello@homesafedevon.co.uk. We will fix it, and we will tell you when it is done.

Standard we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 at level AA. If you find something on the site you cannot use, tell us and we will fix it.

If this page is the one you are struggling with, tell us. That is not a joke, it is the point.
